1. Description of the service

Kakeibo is a personal budgeting application inspired by the Japanese kakeibo method. It helps you track income, categorize spending into “jars,” log expenses, set savings goals, and receive guidance from an in-app assistant, Pon.

Kakeibo is a budgeting and organizational tool. It is not a licensed financial, investment, tax, or legal advisory service. Nothing Pon or the app says constitutes professional financial advice, and you should not rely on it as a substitute for advice from a qualified financial advisor.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use Kakeibo. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

3. Your account

• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity under your account.
• You agree to provide accurate information (your income, expenses, and goals) — Kakeibo's calculations and suggestions are only as accurate as the data you provide.
• You may delete your account at any time from Settings, which will permanently remove your data as described in our Privacy Policy.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use Kakeibo for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or data
• Interfere with or disrupt the app's infrastructure or security
• Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the app outside of normal use
• Reverse-engineer or attempt to extract the app's source code

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

5. Your content and data

You retain ownership of the financial data and information you enter into Kakeibo. By using the app, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display this data back to you as part of providing the service. We do not claim ownership of your personal financial information.

6. AI-generated content (Pon)

Pon's responses are generated using artificial intelligence and are provided for informational and organizational convenience only. AI-generated suggestions may occasionally be inaccurate, incomplete, or not applicable to your specific situation. You are solely responsible for financial decisions you make, whether or not informed by Pon's suggestions.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

Kakeibo is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Kakeibo and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including but not limited to financial losses resulting from budgeting decisions made using the app.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

9. Service availability

We aim to keep Kakeibo available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may suspend the service temporarily for maintenance, updates, or reasons beyond our control (e.g., third-party service outages).

10. Changes to the service

We may add, modify, or remove features at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of significant changes that affect core functionality.

11. Termination

You may stop using Kakeibo and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, with notice where reasonably possible.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Italy. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of Kakeibo will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Rome, Italy, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection rights you may have under the law of your country of residence if you are an EU consumer.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of Kakeibo after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
