1. Who we are

Kakeibo is operated by Maria Grazia Gertos, based in Via del Gesù 73, Rome, Italy. For any privacy-related questions, you can contact us at: admin@ka-kei-bo.it

2. What data we collect

When you use Kakeibo, we collect:

Account data

• Name
• Email address
• Password (stored securely, hashed — we never see or store it in plain text)

Financial data you enter

• Monthly income
• Budget categories ("jars"), names, and amounts
• Transactions you log (merchant, amount, category, date)
• Savings goals and general savings balance
• Recurring expenses you set up

Usage data

• Login timestamps
• Basic technical data (browser type, device type) for security and debugging purposes

Conversations with Pon

• Messages you send to our in-app assistant, and its responses, so it can maintain context and provide relevant help

We do not collect: payment card numbers, bank account credentials, or any data from third-party bank accounts — Kakeibo does not connect to your bank. All financial figures are manually entered by you.

3. Why we collect this data (legal basis)

• To provide the service (contract performance): your account, jars, transactions, and goals are the core functionality of the app and cannot work without this data.
• To improve and secure the service (legitimate interest): usage and technical data help us fix bugs and prevent abuse.
• With your consent: where required, such as for optional communications.

4. Who we share data with

We use a small number of trusted service providers (data processors) to operate Kakeibo:

• Supabase (database, authentication, and data storage) — hosted in the EU (Ireland)
• Resend (transactional email delivery — account confirmation, password reset)
• Vercel (application hosting)
• A third-party AI language model provider (powers Pon's conversational responses — messages you send to Pon may be processed by this third-party AI service to generate a reply)

We do not sell your data to advertisers or any other third party. We do not use your financial data for advertising purposes.

5. Where your data is stored

Your data is stored on servers located in the European Union (Ireland). If any service provider processes data outside the EU, we ensure appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) are in place.

6. How long we keep your data

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data and financial records are permanently deleted within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain certain records for longer.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your account and associated data ("right to be forgotten")
• Export your data in a portable format ("data portability")
• Restrict or object to certain processing
• Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent
• Lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la Protezione dei Dati Personali) — www.garanteprivacy.it — or your local EU data protection authority

You can exercise most of these rights directly within the app (Settings → Account), or by contacting us at admin@ka-kei-bo.it.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and row-level access controls that ensure only you can access your own financial data. However, no system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children's privacy

Kakeibo is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of Kakeibo after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
